Frequently Asked Questions
- How old do I have to be to take part?
Any age from 13 to 18 years old as of 1st September 2008 for the BSKC 2009.
- If I am under 18 do I need a parent / guardian to attend the events?
Yes. All drivers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a member of staff or parent acting in loco parentis. One adult acting in loco parentis can sign on behalf of all competing students from a single school.
- How many drivers to a team?
There must be 3 drivers exactly in your team for all events.
- Can we change drivers between teams after the practise session?
Yes and no.
Schools that enter more than one team can change drivers between teams after the practise session. Schools that only enter one team can't.
- Can we enter just the semi-final and not do the practise?
No.
It's in the interest of safety that all drivers have some experience of driving the karts, and that they know the circuit before racing in the semi-finals.
- What if I have an MSA kart racing license?
You will still have to drive in the practise session.
- What is the minimum height?
5ft 2.
- How much does a practise session cost?
£20 inc VAT per driver (£60 per team).
- How much does a semi final cost?
£22 inc VAT per driver (£66 per team).
- How much will the final cost?
Nothing. It is free of charge to those teams that qualify.
- But won't travelling to the final cost a bomb?
No, should you qualify for the final, we will reimburse your travel costs to and from the hosting circuit.

- Is it true that Prince William & Prince Harry raced at Streatham?
Not quite...
Before coming to Streatham, Playscape (the operators of Streatham Kart Raceway), operated out of a warehouse in Clapham.
They did however teach William and Harry how to race karts.
They were even pretty talented but who was quicker?
- Is it true that Lewis Hamilton raced at Streatham?
Yes. He was sponsored in his karting days by Playscape who run Streatham Kart Raceway and Club100 who host the racing for the British Universities Karting Championship
